Message from the Airport Administrator

Hello and welcome to the Richard Downing airport website!

Spring is finally here! For many pilots, it's time to start flying again after a long, cold winter. We hope your flying plans include Richard Downing Airport!

Here in Coshocton, we're always striving to improve our airport. Here are the three exciting projects making news at Richard Downing this Spring/Summer:

The Engineering and Bidding phase for the runway extension is underway!

The project will extend the existing runway (rwy 4/22) from 4,100 ft to 5,000 ft.

The runway extension will increase the business appeal of the airport, by allowing larger/faster aircraft to land.

The Airport Amphitheater project is in the Funding Stage!

The project started its capital campaign last October, and to date has raised over $41,000, $10,000 from the Coshocton Rotary and the balance from individual contributions. It's estimated about $200,000 will be needed to complete the project and construct the natural amphitheater located across from the terminal at Richard Downing Airport.

A very special "Thank You" to the Ohio Department of Natural Resources, Novelty Advertising and Yager Consultants for their generosity.

Look for a special fund raising concert on Memorial Day weekend. (more details to come!)

The site is on three acres of airport land that would be leased to the Amphitheater Board.

The initial funding will construct a 100-by-60-foot stage, concession stands, rest room facilities and cover some landscaping. The facility will be multipurpose, suitable for concerts, musical productions and theatrical performances. Seating will be with lawn chairs and blankets for now.

There are several levels of gifting to support the Coshocton Airport Amphitheater Project that would honor the contributor, including a $100,000 level that would acquire naming right to the complex and 10 lifetime season passes; $50,000 or $25,000 for naming rights to specific buildings or equipment and six lifetime season passes, or six season passes for five years, respectively; $10,000 for naming rights and six season passes for five years; or $5,000 for naming rights and four season passes for three years.

Please contact the Airport (740-622-2252) if you're interested in contributing.

Wings Over Coshocton 2008 is in the Planning Stage!

The third annual Wings Over Coshocton Air Show is currently scheduled to be held Saturday, September 20th.

The Air Show Staff is working hard to make this the best show yet! Check back for more details as they become available!
